The COVID-19 intervention project under the Nigeria Electrification Project covers providing energy solutions to selected health facilities and hospitals in Nigeria.
COVID-19 INTERVENTION PROJECT UNDER THE NIGERIA ELECTRICFICATION PROJECT
ACOB Lighting technology was tasked with the responsibility to provide these solutions to Twelve hospitals in the North West Zone of the country under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
One of the beneficiaries of this project is the Infectious Disease Hospital, Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area in Kano State. The hospital is equipped with a 50kWp Solar Hybrid System to provide reliable power supply to key facilities within the hospital such as the Male & Female Wards, Pediatric Wards, Administrative Block, Laboratory etc.

KEY O&M ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
Throughout the month of September, routine maintenance checks was carried out at the site. These activities include onsite and remote monitoring of ESS monitoring platform to ascertain optimal operations, routine checks on Diesel Generator operations, cleaning of the solar pv array to remove dust, provision of diesel and engine oil for generator etc.
Routine Maintenance: Observation of ESS System Display Screen to ensure optimum functionality of the System
The system has been operating optimally and supplying reliable power to the connected facilities. So far, no significant technical challenges have been recorded. The hospital management are appreciative of the project, and have also taken direct steps in ensuring the system is utilized effectively by instructing that only key members of their Maintenance department can interface directly with the operations of the system. This has provided the opportunity for our team to directly offer on the spot training to these key maintenance officers on the functionality of the entire system.
