A 50 kWp Solar + Battery Backup System project at Ikara General Hospital, Kaduna State, providing clean energy to 50,000+ patients and generating 73,000 kWh annually.
The solarization project at Ikara General Hospital within Ikara LGA, Kaduna State in the North-West region of Nigeria, represents a vital healthcare infrastructure upgrade deployed by ACOB Lighting Technology Limited in partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and funded by the World Bank.
Through this intervention, the facility now serves over 50,000 annual patients with stable, clean electricity. The project delivers a 99% system uptime to power critical zones including operating theatres, emergency wards, and laboratories, enabling a 40% increment in healthcare service capacity and patient care.
Generating an estimated 73,000 kWh annually, the 50 kWp Solar PV and 192 kWh Battery Storage (BESS) system has achieved an 85% reduction in diesel generator dependence. This clean transition reduces operating overhead by 50% in energy costs and avoids 60 Tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
This installation underscores ACOB Lighting Technology’s dedication to providing resilient, clinical-grade solar energy solutions that support healthcare professionals and save patient lives.
